In 2020 Giki started working with companies to help them accelerate climate action. Today, we're celebrating working with over 1,000 companies worldwide who we've helped to do exactly that, using Giki's platforms.
Here's how we got here.
Where it began: Giki Badges, 2017
Our first product put sustainability information directly into consumers' hands. We rated 250,000 UK supermarket products on their environmental impact, ethics and health, from carbon footprint and palm oil to animal welfare. Giki Badges was used by 60,000+ people and covered by the BBC (including UK national treasure Sir David Attenborough's team), The Times and the Daily Mail.
Bringing companies in: Giki Zero, 2020
In 2020 we turned that same approach on the workplace. Giki Zero was first taken to the public at the Eden Project in 2019, and launched officially just as the Covid pandemic hit in early 2020. It came at a moment when the world was rethinking its relationship with the planet. Companies wanted a way to bring employees together around something that mattered to everyone.
Over the years that followed, Giki Zero ran multi-year employee engagement programmes with organisations including Accenture, Deloitte, NatWest, KPMG, Capgemini, BBC and Oxford University, as well as smaller businesses like drinks company Cawston Press. We ran Sustainability Games for Adobe's partners and clients, including Amazon, IBM, Microsoft, Infosys, M&G, Unilever and Costain. As a UN Race to Zero Accelerator, we created and ran the Employee Race to Zero, bringing employees together in competitions to accelerate climate action. And when the Commonwealth Games came to Birmingham in 2022, we helped both employees and athletes take climate action together.
Closing the gap: Giki Actions, 2025
Giki Zero proved big organisations wanted this. But SMEs, who make up the vast majority of companies in the world and who often supply the big companies, often had nowhere to turn for climate action. We wanted to democratise all the amazing information and human knowledge on climate action, and make it relevant, really useful and actionable for SMEs.
So in 2025, after three years of research, analysis and development, we launched Giki Actions: built using our library of 750+ decarbonisation actions across 190+ sectors that enables any SME to build a climate action plan in around an hour, with no external help needed.
It's been adopted fast. We now work in partnership with SME Climate Hub, for whom we built and run their Climate Action Planner; with Green Project Technologies; and with local and national government and NGOs, including The Climate Pledge, with whom we run the Net Zero Roadmap Accelerator for SMEs.
1,000 companies, and counting
From Giki Zero's enterprise programmes to Giki Actions' fast-growing SME community, over 1,000 companies have now worked with Giki to take climate action. Along the way, well over 150,000 people have taken over a million climate actions through our platforms.
Thank you to every company, partner and person who has taken action with us so far, including the fabulous Giki team and partners at NatWest, Accenture, Deloitte, BBC, SME Climate Hub, Green Project Technologies, UK government and beyond who've helped get us here.
We're also excited about what this highlights: climate action doesn't have to be complicated, expensive, or reserved for companies with big sustainability teams and bigger budgets. It can be practical, fast, relevant and beneficial for everybody and every single business, whatever their size, sector or priorities.
And this is just the start. Find out how Giki Actions helps companies across the world.
